This was my first digital camera. It is in excellent condition and takes beautiful pictures, but I have upgraded to a digital SLR and don't need two digicams any more. I found it to be a good first digital camera; it can operate like a point and shoot, but it also has manual and specialty modes that allow you to override some or all of the cameras internal settings. It goes a long way between battery changes, even when using the pop-up flash. Most importantly to new digital photographers: it has almost no shutter lag. Compose, focus, and click, and the picture snaps when you hit the button.
I have owned this camera for about two years. It is in excellent condition and has never had any mechanical, electrical, or optical problems. It takes beautiful, sharp, bright pictures in JPG format only (each pic is 500k-600k).
This flash unit lights up a dark room very well. It requires you to operate the camera in Manual mode, but has a chart on the back to ease the choice of camera settings; simply set shutter speed to 1/60sec, and use the chart to choose the aperture (f-stop) based on the distance to your subject.
Monster Power is a division of Monster Cable, makers of the best high-end audio/video cables in the world. These batteries don't disappoint; each set is capable of powering the S602 for an entire day, even when using the pop-up flash. The included charger recharges a single set in about 3 hours.
Includes all drivers needed for Windows 98-2000, plus the excellent Finepix Viewer, one of the better digital image viewing and cataloguing applications I've seen.
These are just some of the many beautiful pictures I have shot with this camera.
